You might be charged a fee for 'double dynamic currency conversion' if the currency of your card is different to the currency of the account your card is linked to.
Why does this happen?
Euronet ATMs recognise a card's billing currency. If the billing currency of the card is different from the currency of your account, your money will be converted by Euronet and then again by your card issuer.
Example:
- The billing currency for your UK card is GBP, but the card is linked to a EUR account
- In Greece, you withdraw Euros
- The Euronet ATM checks the billing currency and sees GBP, so converts the Euros to GBP
- Your card issuer then completes a second conversion from GBP to Euro
What should I do if I am charged this fee?
Because the contract for the currency of your account is with your card issuer, please contact them to discuss a fee for double Dynamic Currency Conversion.
